Snow. Meh.

My little Ford Focus coasted very well across the snow-covered, idiot-packed streets today. I'm happy to be alive.
When I was about about half-way to the college, my phone chimed its little chime. I'm such a rebel, I checked it while driving, despite the new law against it.  Dr. Ferguson had emailed us and let us know that he wasn't going to hold our absences against us, but if we showed up, we could go ahead and write our response papers as planned.
I was already half-way there, see, so I just kept chugging.
He left before class was over and let his assistant collect our papers.
That was the mood of the day.

I've been snapping pictures over the course of the week. I like to play around with the filters on the photo editor, make 'em all artsy fartsy. Sometimes, I get some winners.

I wonder, how did birds stay warm before electric lines?

  1. I LOVE that last one. :) We've got lots of the white stuff up here. Milder temps though, 30-ish... makes for great playing outside weather. And, if you scrape the drive way clean enough, it's just warm enough to prevent icing at night. (FYI, I wasn't fast enough this morning, therefore we did not avoid the icing.) I was actually thinking though, buy the time we get back from vacation, we'll only have about a month of TRUE winter left.

    1. About that last pic. I uploaded it to my blog, and Google kidnapped it and made it into a GIF complete with falling snow. I had no idea I had given them permission to do that.

    1. We got more snow later on. All my old tracks were filled in. But the icicles didn't even make it through the next morning.

  3. We had sleet here in Houston today, but in light of the fact we've already closed the city twice for 30 degree weather in the past two weeks, things kept on chugging.

I didn't get a single good picture out of the weather, though, and you got some good shots. The second to last picture here is fantastic.

    1. I can't imagine Houston under snow and ice. There must be an apocalypse scheduled.

  4. It's not allowed to snow in Texas. Those are Ohio sized ice cycles you have there.

    1. They were about two feet long before they finally decided to separate from the roof in one long, solid chunk. Thank goodness that cat wasn't walking there just then.

  5. But..snow does look lovely :) Before electric lines I suspect birds nestled along the edges of active volcano craters for warmth - or maybe they had fluffier and denser plumage back in the days. And there's me associating Texas with sun, deserts, cacti and tumbleweeds! What do I know? :)

    1. We still have sun, deserts, and tumbleweeds. They're just buried under the snow! (It tends to melt away quickly...)

  6. Snow is the white gold. But I'll rather have the snow in the mountains than in the city. And don't use your cell phone while driving >;)

  7. I, too, have had enough. It was double digits below zero at the bus stop this morning, and we're expecting snow. Wouldn't you think it was too cold for it to snow?
