Moving Forward

I've managed to avoid the Spring Cleaning Bug by enrolling in classes at the local community college. I figured I would be able to say I'm so busy with my full-time job and night school, I couldn't possibly clean out the garage or the pantry any time this year.

Also, the moth/spider invasion is at its peak, so I'm terrified of the crevices and/or what's lurking in them. I've already killed three wolf spiders and countless moths. If you are from here, you know what I'm talking about. If you are not from here, please don't tell me about your local infestations. It gives me nightmares. (I'm serious, Robbie. Nightmares!)

I'm almost in the clear. Summer is just around the corner, which means it will be far too late to do any useful purging. Spring Cleaning is, by definition, a spring activity, right? I'm willing to wait for it to roll around again before making any concrete decisions about the fate of the old bunk beds and toy boxes I've got stacked out there. Sara's and Lyric's crap is in the way anyhow, so yep. Spring Cleaning 2012 is definitely a bust.

On the excellent side, I'm finally going for that degree in English I've been wanting for so long. There's lots of reading and writing in my future, folks. The opportunities are endless...

Crap. Did that sound a little too upbeat and (gulp) optimistic? There's quite a bit of that running through my veins lately. Before you know it, I'll be planting flowers and smiling at the neighbors...

    1. I'm not even sure my neighbors are aware somebody lives in my house.

  2. First, I love your new pic and profile description. I was just too stupid to figure out your old one. :) I finally got down stairs to clean the boys bedroom out and I think we may have set a record with only ONE bag of trash being removed. Normal is 3-4.

And for the love of God. SMILING at the neighbors? I don't even know you anymore.

    1. I change that profile description all the time. I can't even remember what it said before. I should probably stick with one for a while longer than usual.

  3. Almost forgot... I'm very allergic to spiders. The boys caught one in a bowl in their room and were "playing" with it. Oldest said, don't worry Mom, if he tries to bite me I have my double barrel Nerf shotgun with me, I'll just shoot him in the leg"

    1. Tell your boys, the hose attachment with the vacuum cleaner is so much more effective!

  4. Oh, the temptation. I'd say get thee behind me, Satan, but no one takes me seriously when I do.

My daughter has a moth fear too...

    Luck on the degree.

    1. Thanks for the luck (and the restraint)! And I was snickering at the Satan statement even before I finished reading your comment. Well put.

  5. That's a great excuse for skipping the spring cleaning.

Taking English class sounds very interesting. My favorite subjects in school were physics, mathematics and literature. I choose the physics-math track, since it was a good combo, and easy to get a job. Literature became my favorite hobby >:)

The spiders always scared me when we lived in Colorado. I never knew which were harmless and which were dangerous, since they were different from the spiders in Winterland >:)

    1. Wolf spiders are especially scary, since they seem to be fearless.

  6. Spring cleaning isn't for me either, neither is any sort of cleaning. I only get to it when I have to do something I dread even more, like doing taxes. Oh, I guess I did do some cleaning this spring.

As you were. Love the whole thing, post, commentary, profile, byline...

    1. Thanks. I'd probably choose cleaning over taxes, too!

  8. Are you really going for a degree in English?! I wish you best of luck and think you should.

Talking of spiders, I've noticed lots of them indoors here at the moment, but you get nasty buggers there I believe? Although not as bad as in Australia.

    1. I am going for English. It suits me, though I might regret it. I took a look at the course plan, and I'm going to be one busy bee.
I lived in Australia for two years as a child, but I can't remember any spiders.

  9. Wolf spiders and countless moths are exactly why I don't live there! Ha. Well, that and I like the East Coast, too.

Good for you, Nessa! You should be optimistic--no reason not to be. Lots of good things will follow, but boy, you'll have your work cut out for you for a while. Good luck... I hope we hear about your studies! :)

  10. Thanks, Jayne. I just paid my tuition for Summer classes, so I'm fully committed! Looks like it's going to be the "extended" version, since I won't be able to go full-time.
